Dr. Nathaniel Evans
Présentation
Dr. Nathaniel Evans a obtenu un doctorat en neurosciences de l’École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Ses recherches en neurosciences cognitives portent sur les mécanismes neuronaux et psychologiques liés aux nouvelles technologies qui nous permettent de décoder les signaux neuronaux et directement les traduire en actions guidées à la machine, contournant les voies d’action standard du système locomoteur. Il a obtenu une maîtrise en sciences informatiques (également de l’EPFL) et un BS en sciences informatiques de l’Université de Washington (Seattle, USA), où sa recherche et ses travaux de cours se sont axés sur l’informatique biologique, l’apprentissage de la machine, et l’intelligence artificielle.
En plus de son travail scientifique, il est un multi-instrumentiste passionné, producteur de musique, auteur-compositeur, chanteur, DJ, et passionné de musique en général, qui crée et joue dans divers projets (madnax; Planet Theater).
Ses projets artistiques continuent d’inspirer son travail actuel à la Fondation Agalma où, en collaboration avec le professeur Pierre Magestretti et le musicien Richard Rentsch, il explore le processus créatif spontané et l’inconscient à travers l’improvisation musicale. En utilisant les idées de ses recherches, il mène une performance artistique pluri-média conceptuelle qui combine improvisation musicale, décodage du signal biologique, et projection de visuels 3D.
